Shoes from an online clothing company shop, a drill from the sales offers at a teleshopping broadcaster or a used smart phone from an e-commerce platform: business on the Internet has revolutionised the mail order business. But how do boots ordered online reach a customer overnight? We not only offer you suitable web-shop solutions, but also act as the interface between retailers and customers. We store, pick and transport the goods to the recipient. But that is not all: if required, our employees can also assemble your furniture, connect up your electrical goods and dispose of old items.
Goods on demand
We organise the transportation of your products from the manufacturing site to our warehouses and then to customers on demand – whether this involves a kitchen or a living room cupboard or a cross trainer. Our logistics centres are multi-user facilities and offer a high degree of flexibility and low costs. Each item receives an incoming goods sticker with a barcode – so that we can track each consignment at all times. After receiving an order, we transport the goods on time to our regional branches and then deliver them to the customer making use of our cross-docking facilities. We have special safety precautions for high-quality products like high-tech devices – for example, especially secure high-shelf units, which protect your goods from any outside interference at all times.
Our specialist company for final customer deliveries, Rhenus Home Delivery, not only transports the goods to the customer’s front door. We install your kitchen, assemble your furniture and connect up your washing machine. Deliveries take place during a two-hour delivery window. Before the truck leaves the depot, the barcode on each item is scanned again. Then customers can see how their consignment is progressing and track it. The customer is informed by phone about the actual delivery time one hour in advance. Our drivers take away any packaging materials and old devices that are surplus to requirements and dispose of them in an environmentally-friendly manner.
Returns are a routine part of business in the mail order sector – whether this involves a sofa where complaints have been made, a faulty dryer or an order that has been cancelled. Returning the goods, quality checks, repair work and recycling all demand a highly developed logistics chain. We pick up your return goods from the customer, organise the return transportation to our central warehouse and classify the damage. We dispose of or recycle any seriously damaged old units. Any unused returns in a good condition are repacked after the quality check and put back in storage.
Making up individual sets
Your items are not only kept safe at our warehouses until they are delivered, but they can also be pieced together, packed and labelled. If necessary, we will create sets for your cosmetics items, price electronics products for a special offer or provide your sensitive goods with protective packaging.
Reducing waiting times
Our central IT system not only monitors the data on stocks, but also all the orders from customers. Using out track & trace system, customers can obtain all the information about their deliveries. This brings benefits: we can reduce the waiting times for customers and offer a two-hour delivery window for the goods to arrive at the recipient’s address.
