The past four months have been an exceptionally difficult time for businesses across Europe and the world. While usually around this time thoughts would be turning to summer holidays, there is still significant uncertainty as a result of COVID-19.
Particularly for businesses across Europe, August usually marks a holiday period where we experience a reduction in freight capacity, particularly in southern European countries. However, this year the situation isn’t clear, and while we do expect freight capacity to be reduced we are also looking to ensure that the needs of our customers are catered for, particularly as many are, or have just recently resumed production.
Therefore, during August, daily and bi-weekly services to and from France, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula will operate at a reduced capacity than normal, weekend departures will be maintained. Additionally, shipments to and from southern European destinations may be subject to extended transit times.
Our daily departures to and from Hilden, Germany and Venlo, Netherlands will operate on alternate days, whilst our daily services to and from Stuttgart will revert to twice weekly.
Other service schedules will be retained.
When considering your shipping requirements, please be mindful that the resumption of normal services once the holiday period has ended can be slow to recover. This imbalance between freight capacity and equipment as we emerge from the holiday season may impact service times, especially in weeks 36 – 38.
