*Update 24th July 2019: Strike cancelled* A series of three strikes have been announced at London Heathrow. The first strike will take place on the 26th of July. As a result, we expect disruption to air freight shipments on the 26th & 27th and in the days following these strikes.
Around 4,000 staff at Heathrow are planning to strike in a dispute over pay in a series of three strikes. If the 48-hour strikes go ahead, they will begin on the 26th & 27th July, continuing again on the 5th & 6th August, and conclude on the 23rd & 24th August.
Although the air freight capacity during these strikes is currently unknown, it is believed that air freight movements in particular will be severely affected, with the focus being placed on passengers rather than cargo.
Although the potential for disruption is high, as always, we will continue to monitor the situation and inform you of any changes as they occur. For more information please get in touch with you local Rhenus A&O branch. Contact details for each branch can be found here.
