History 2015

On track: Rhenus restructured its rail activities and obtained 50 percent of the shares in LTE Logistik- und Transport GmbH and a 60.1 percent holding in the Crossrail AG railway company, following approval by the cartel authorities. In Duisburg, Rhenus PartnerShip held a naming ceremony for a newly constructed motor vessel featuring propulsion technology that is unique in Europe. The acquisition of the Serbian terminal operator CFND and parts of the French Compagnie Française de Navigation Rhénane (CFNR) reinforced the Group’s inland waterway shipping activities. The newly founded company, Rhenus Pharma Service, carved out a niche for itself as a partner for the pharmaceutical industry. The Rhenus Group took over the Swiss project logistics specialist KOG Worldwide AG, which has a global focus in the USA, Europe and Asia. 


The Rhenus Bulk Terminal Wilhelmshaven (BTW) set a new record: the largest volume of coal in the history of German ports was unloaded there in September – more than 170,000 tonnes. During the summer, the Rhenus Group founded a subsidiary known as Rhenus Offshore Logistics and the logistics specialist’s first independent company in Vietnam during the autumn. By acquiring the Brenner group, Rhenus enhanced its activities in wood logistics with new branches in Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany. Rhenus Office Systems also expanded its network with takeovers and new business sites in the Netherlands, Poland and Germany.


History 2013

Rhenus expanded its Eurasian network and acquired the remaining shares in the Southeast Asian Prolog Group. The logistics specialist set up the Rhenus Logistics India joint venture with the Indian company Western Arya. The high-tech business unit took over the market-leading services provider for technical installation and distribution work in Great Britain, LCE UK Ltd. Rhenus Office Systems expanded its network in the Benelux region by taking over DocuCare B.V. Following several years of extension work, the logistics specialist opened the Rhenus Bulk Terminal (BTW) for handling coal in Wilhelmshaven and increased its holding in Mierka Beteiligungs GmbH to 51 percent.


Rhenus celebrated its centenary in 2012. The corporate group expanded markedly by integrating the continental European business activities of the Wincanton Group. Rhenus opened the first customs and logistics terminal for a Western European freight forwarder in the Smolensk region on the Belarusian/Russian border. Rhenus Logistics Holding Asia Pte. Ltd was founded in Singapore and it pools the Group’s Asian business. Rhenus Contract Logistics opened new logistics centres in Frankfurt, Eisenach and Tilburg.


History 2011

Rhenus signs a contract to take over the European business activities of the Wincanton Group and this acquisition strengthens the company’s position in third-party logistics and multi-modal transport operations. The company purchases a deep-sea terminal measuring 200,000 square metres at the port of Rotterdam. Rhenus purchases the Wilh. Schon GmbH & Co. KG freight forwarding company based in Traben-Trarbach. The remaining shares of Rhenus eonova pass into the ownership of the Rhenus Group. Rhenus opens new logistics centres at Weil am Rhein, Barcelona and Hörselgau.


Rhenus acquired a majority holding in the Pro-Log Group in order to consolidate its own network in Asia. Rhenus and Mierka Donauhafen Krems agreed a strategic partnership to expand business activities on the Danube River. The Langenscheidt publishing group sold Thüringer Verlagsauslieferung (TVA) in Gotha and it became part of the Rhenus Media Logistics business division. Rhenus took over the WECKERLE GmbH Spedition + Logistik, IFS Inter Freight System Internationale Spedition GmbH and Grossmann Sea & Air Logistics freight forwarding companies.
