Inland Shipping

The Rhenus Group is one of the leading shipping companies on Europe’s inland waterways. We have about 350 owned and chartered barges in operation every day. The modern-equipped, universally usable river barge fleet (push and coupled units, motorized barges) carry metals, steel, agricultural products, fertilizers, project cargo and containers. Total tonnage is over 20 million per year. GMP and NIWO certified. By making use of the complete Rhenus network, we can offer a full inland waterway transport chain, including the pick-up and final delivery runs, using road and rail services alongside the inland waterways.

Trucking

Rhenus Port Logistics Rotterdam offers fast, flexible, cost efficient, reliable and safe road transportation of containers and breakbulk including steel, metal and timber products with chartered and owned trucks throughout Europe. Our goal is to assure the customers interest that their products arrive safely at final destination within the required dates against lowest possible costs.

Railway

At Rhenus Port Logistics Rotterdam we have 1,900 meters of rail tracks to your disposal.

At our Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal we have 400 meters double (landside) rail track ideal to facilitate logistics of large flows of breakbulk cargoes such as aluminum, metals and steel.

At the Rhenus Waalhaven Terminal we have 550 meters double (waterside) rail track ideal to facilitate project cargo movements from ship direct onto rail or vice versa and for large flows of breakbulk cargoes such as aluminum, metals and steel.

Shipping

Our terminals function as a hub where deep sea cargo meets short sea shipping. Large (break)bulk flows come in and are dispersed in smaller lots from for instance China to the United Kingdom or from South America to Iceland by the breakbulk liner services who use our terminals as their hub or by the fleet of our of our Rhenus sister company.

Short Sea

Rhenus Port Logistics Rotterdam is connected to many European ports via the short sea connections at the terminal. There are routes to Iceland, England, Scandinavia, the Iberian Peninsula, Russia and the Baltic States via Rhenus Maritime Services (RMS). The service of BroIntermed connects us to Italy and Northern Africa (a.o. Libya) and Longship is a specialist on Iceland and the Scanbaltic.

Brointermed Lines

BroIntermed is an Italian multi-purpose cargo carrier. The regular services from Italy call our Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal at the Maasvlakte where we load cargo back to Libya. Hugo Trumpy acts as commercial agents for inquiries. Please click here for more contact details.

Longship

Longship, with roots in the Netherlands and Norway, was founded in 2009 and since then has developed into a well established name in the shipping industry with renowned international industrial companies and charterers as long-term customers. Currently, Longship is the commercial manager of 20 vessels varying in size between 3,000 and 20,000 T DWT. The fleet continues to grow steadily.

Rhenus Maritime Services

Rhenus Maritime Services (RMS) is a freight and shipping company operating short sea traffic routes across Europe and it focuses on providing sea/river services. At present the company transports on its fleet of 15 own and 63 chartered coasters. The shipments include steel, paper, wood, containers, project consignments and heavy goods, but the company also handles bulk cargo, pipes, hazardous goods or garbage.

RMS offers its customers global chartering and door-to-door services across Europe. The company mainly operates on routes to England, Scandinavia, the Iberian Peninsula, Russia and the Baltic States.

Deep Sea

Rhenus Port Logistics Rotterdam is connected with liner and semi-liner services to Russia, Canada, the US Gulf Region, Venezuela, Northern Africa and East Asia, and to South America, the Caribbean and Canada via Nirint Shipping, who offer a biweekly service. Furthermore, we have contracts with many of the major shipping and heavy lift companies operating worldwide.

Nirint Shipping

Nirint Shipping is a Dutch multi-purpose cargo carrier. The regular services to, South America and the Carribean operate from out of the Rhenus Deep Sea Terminal at the Maasvlakte. Nirint has sales offices in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bilbao, Caracas, Havana, Montreal and Beijing.
