Senior Operations clerk to assist in the smooth running of the Airfreight department, organising and co-ordinating Import and Export Airfreight shipments from start to finish. Duties include arranging collections/deliveries, compiling quotations, organising Customs Clearances, raising sales invoices, entering accruals and passing of purchase invoices. Post shipment activities to include; post flights, tracking and uplift confirmations, certificates of shipments and provding POD’s

Providing excellent Customer services to Rhenus Customers taking a pro-active approach to handling shipments including following up with Airlines, Truckers and providing updates to Customers and Partners.

Main Duties:

  • Start to Finish of Air Export shipments covering all aspects from collection, booking, documentation, customs entries, pre-alerts, post flights and raising of sales invoices/passing of purchase invoices.
  • Start to Finish of Air Import shipments covering all aspects from preparation of Import Customs Clearance instructions, Customs Clearance, Airline collection and onward delivery, collection of Duty/VAT as required.
  • Providing POD’s and updates to Overseas Offices / Agents and Customers as required.
  • Entering shipments into the Operating system
  • Creation of Sales Invoices
  • Passing of Purchase Invoices
  • Vendor Negotiation (Airlines, Truckers)
  • Post Flights, Certificates of shipments, POD’s

Customs Clearance Supervisor

Supervising the department with an emphasis on leading, motivating, coaching and developing the team of Junior and Senior Customs Declarants. Work as part of a team with Customs Declarants to submit and process customs entries and ensuring that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods on Air, Sea and Road shipments. Act between the customer and Customs and act as a point of reference and answer queries and support Senior and Junior Customs Declarants.

Main Duties:

  • Coordination of processing of customs data to ensure it is delivered smoothly and seamlessly.
  • Daily task coordination and team management.
  • Providing outstanding customer service and communication.
  • Working with internal and external partners to resolve deficiencies.
  • Provide analysis data and documentation as evidence for internal and external audits.  
  • Timely follow up of open issues, including clearance of undischarged T1 documents and handling of outstanding preference documents.     
  • Maintain current knowledge of customs legislation, political/commercial documentation and the HMRC tariff.
  • Providing support, assistance and direction to the team members.   
  • Preparing reports and metrics for both internal and external purposes.
  • Training of client and broker personnel involved with customs operations.
  • Providing regular status input to Operations Manager.
  • Maintain AEO status by ensuring that customs procedures managed by team are documented and follows.
  • Apply for customs authorisations
  • Other duties as assigned by Customs Manager.

To support the Road Freight activities within the Manchester Import / Transport operation in a coordinated, motivated and pro-active manner. Senior Customs Declarant

Rhenus Logistics UK are looking to recruit two Senior Customs Declarant to join our teams in Manchester. The successful applicants will work as part of a team with Customs Declarants to submit and process customs entries and ensuring that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods on Air, Sea and Road shipments. You will act between the customer and Customs and act as a point of reference and answer queries and support Junior Customs Declarants. You will determine and track duties and taxes payable and process payments on behalf of clients.

Job Role:

Customs Declarant to submit and process customs entries and ensuring that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods on Air, Sea and Road shipments. Act between the Customer and Customs, support Junior Customs Declarants. Determine and track duties and taxes payable and process payments on behalf of clients.

Main Duties:

  • Prepare and process import, export, NCTS - transit and excise customs entries according to Customs regulations, laws, or procedures using our Customs software ASM Sequoia.
  • Monitor pending clearances.
