Daimler Supplier Award presented to Rhenus
The Rhenus Group received one of the highly-regarded Daimler Supplier Awards at the end of February. Every year, the automobile manufacturer presents the Daimler Supplier Award to suppliers, which have provided outstanding services in the fields of quality, partnership and innovations during the past twelve months. Klemens Rethmann, the CEO at Rhenus, accepted the prize at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Stuttgart.
Rhenus has been working as a supplier for Daimler AG for almost 30 years. The logistics expert has been operating warehouses for the automobile manufacturer since 1998 – initially in Stuttgart and now at many European sites too.
“Rhenus is a company that started more than 100 years ago by providing shipping transport services on the river Rhine. Nowadays, Rhenus handles different logistics services around the globe. Rhenus is a genuine strategic partner for us, with operations for many of our plants. Rhenus tackles this challenge with us on a daily basis with a real sense of passion and supplies items to the pulsing heart of our production. Every part counts,” said Dr Sabine Lutz, Head of International Procurement Services at Daimler AG, during the award-winning ceremony.
Rhenus’ activities for Daimler include regional freight forwarding services, procurement, the consolidation and deconsolidation of global supply chains, part-by-part logistics, scheduling and managing bottlenecks. The range of services also involves warehousing, sequencing, just-in-time and just-in-sequence deliveries and pre-assembly work.
