Rhenus Midi Data Doubles Capacity at Stuttgart Business Site

Rhenus Midi Data has enlarged its logistics space by more than 100 percent, ten months after opening its new terminal in Stuttgart. Additional working space measuring 4,900 square metres is now available for the company’s customers at the site. The high-tech specialist, which became part of the Rhenus Group in 2012, moved to the new business site in the Stuttgart district of Weilimdorf in April last year and initially used an area that measured just 4,000 square metres.

“The increase in capacity reflects the positive development of our business in this region,” says Michael Boos, Managing Director of Rhenus Midi Data GmbH, explaining the reasons for the expansion of the infrastructure. “If nothing else, the level of cooperation with our colleagues from Rhenus Freight Logistics in the Stuttgart area has formed the basis for this positive development. Both units are benefiting from this, but our customers do so most of all.”

The terminal has direct links with the A 81 motorway. As a result of its convenient location for transport purposes, the site acts as an important interface within the European-wide distribution network, TecDis; this is managed by Rhenus Midi Data and specialises in handling high-tech products. “It goes without saying that the new space also meets the highest quality requirements, which we have made our standard when handling devices and machines in a safe way to prevent any risks,” Michael Boos emphasises.

Rhenus Midi Data was integrated into the Rhenus Group as part of the takeover of the continental European business activities of Wincanton at the beginning of 2012. The high-tech specialist quickly made a name for itself in the market place when it was founded in 1967; and it has continued to develop with its own distribution network for the sensitive goods within the sector; it offers an extensive portfolio of services, which include pre-assembly and pre-installation work and sending technicians to install facilities at local sites. The company began operating its new business centre in Stuttgart-Weilimdorf on 6 April 2012; the facility has now been expanded by almost 5,000 square metres.
